Venice invaded by fake Christmas door hangings: flyers are actually an invitation to sell your home to a foreign company.

Venetians across the city found the front of their homes, doorknobs, etc. festooned with these cards from the Real Estate company Engel and Volkers Venezia. On the front the cards have a nice Christmas scene. Happy Holidays and buone feste, we want your home for someone who will pay more for it.
The cards naturally have provoked an uproar among the citizens, who reject this new low in predatory marketing for the second home market. Once again in response Gruppo25Aprile has voiced the sentiments of many. Their letter follows.

Se ci fosse una normativa in merito questo non succederebbe e, se succedesse, si potrebbe perseguire. Bene allora QUANDO formuliamo la proposta o richiesta che dir si voglia? Se si facesse il Comune dovrebbe esporsi con delle risposte concrete o imbarazzanti, però sarebbe un sassetto gettato su acqua cheta e qualche riverbero lo provocherebbe,
Carissimi, non avendo in 12 mesi di ricerca trovato un appartamento in affitto come ‘residente’ qui a Venezia centro-storico, pur deposto a pagare un affitto mensile dignitoso, pur di continuare la ricerca sono ’sfollato’ in un monolocale ai Frari e non ho quindi potuto portare con me la stampante. Però come E&V qui sotto anche “WelchHome” induce all’affitto turistico a tappeto lasciando sotto ogni porta e in ogni casella un volantino (senza nessuna tassa pagata) che promette ai proprietari un affitto turistico che “garantirà il massimo profitto con il massimo rispetto per il vostro immobile. Vi daremo il massimo sotto l’aspetto economico, pagandovi subito e senza nessuna lamentela….. Per l’intera gestione online chiediamo il 20%….”. Ovviamente il proprietario avrà poi a suo carico gli arredi, le pulizie e – si spera – le tasse. Come dicevo non ho qui la stampante e non posso fare download del volantino. Ne tengo una copia : se qualcuno di voi passa dai Frari, un colpo di telefono e ve lo consegno. Franco Franco Bellino
